ArtBeads.com Copper Enameled Pendant

I have this gorgeous Copper Enameled Pendant from Artbeads.com. It's double sided and just so beautiful that I can't let it go. I finaly am making something for myself.

When the Copper Enameled Pendant caught my eye I knew I had to have it. Artbeads has so many cool things it really was hard to choose.

I plan on making a necklace for myself, I'm going to try to bezel set it in seed beads and then have two strings of beads on each side with a sliver clasp to finish it off. I really think its going to be stunning.

I will keep you all updated on my progress and post more pictures when I'm done. Which I hope will be very soon. I have the perfect outfit ready to wear with it.

Newest Photo Ribbon Bracelet ~ Jim Morrison

He has shades of silver, black, gray and white. This bracelet measures 7" long x 1-5/16" wide. The clasp is a sterling silver slide clasp.

A little insight into the making of my Photo RIbbon Bracelets. All my photo ribbons take approximately 9-10 hours to make. I used beads that are about 1/8” wide and each bead is picked up individually with a a needle and sewn through the bead next to it. Each bracelet is made with over 2000, depending on the length and width.

Every Photo Ribbon and Snapshot Bracelet comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and will be packages in a beautiful pink gift box.

You can find Jim Morrison Photo Ribbon bracelet in my etsy shop PinkPoochDesigns.etsy.com

Grazia Magazine and Me

I came home today and checked the mail like I usually do and there was this big white envelope with a very strange address on it. Since I have been on a like bit of a spending spree, which I shouldn't be doing! I just thought it was something that I had ordered on etsy. When I opened it I thought what the heck is this! Then I remembered that I was contacted back in January about having my bracelets in a magazine called Gazia from the Netherlands. And that is exactly what this is the magazine from the Netherlands.

As far as I Know this is the first magazine my bracelets have been in. They are on the 5th page in a section called the "Must haves of the week". My bracelets are the number 7 must have.

I'm really excited, It just made a kinda crappy day into a pretty good day!! Yay Me :O)

Featured Artist Monday ~ CHRISTINE WRIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY

::
CHRISTINE WRIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY::

First, tell me about your work?

When I'm on assignment, it's usually a concert or music festival that I'm shooting. I write and photograph for Junkmedia, an online music magazine (www.junkmedia.org) and mostly cover shows in the New York Area, although I have covered gigs out of state including Lollapalooza in 2007. As far as my own personal projects, there's no central theme to them. They tend to vary without rhyme or reason. I think it's usually just the desire to capture something beautiful or ugly in the immediate surroundings of day to day life that excites me. You don't have to go far to find pictures.

How did you get started?

I took a black and white photography class when I was a freshman in college. That's where I got my first professional camera - a Minolta SRT 201 – and spent endless hours in the darkroom trying to perfect the craft. One of my photos was featured in an art show at the end of the school year and I remember being absolutely terrified to step foot in the room where it was on display knowing that people would be there looking at it.

Who has influenced/inspired your art work?

Music is a huge inspiration for me, especially classical piano...anything piano actually and anyone who can play it to an awesome degree. Certain authors really do it for me as well, like Murakami, Hemingway, and Palahniuk. They create such intense characters, vivid images, and stunning alternate realities with their words. They make me want to go out and find those people and places. And while I love photographs of all kinds, and I look at them constantly, everything from photojournalism to the abstract, I don't really have a specific photographer that I feel I've been influenced by, that I'm aware of anyway.

How has your art evolved over time?

I hope it's gotten better. Or at least improved. It continues to improve, I think, as I become more confident and allow myself to experiment more. Each time I photograph a show I learn something about how different artists move, how to work within their lighting set-up, how to get the most out of their stage presence. As far as my own projects, I'm trying not to define them or limit them to a specific category. If they work, then that's great. If nothing comes out of a specific shoot, then I know I've exhausted that avenue, at least for the time being, and I move on.

Where do you sell your work and how can my readers reach you?

My photography website is www.cmwrightphoto.com where I try to house most of my work, and my Etsy store, foryoursake.etsy.com, is available through there as well. Anything that is shown on the website can be purchased through Etsy even if it's not currently listed in the store.

I also have a blog www.subtle-electric-fire.tumblr.com/ where I muse over the intricacies of life.

I asked Chrissy if she wanted to be a featured artist, I was searching on etsy in the shop local section and saw her work. I really think she is an amazing photographer. You should check out her website and etsy shop.

Featured Artist Monday ~ dirtroadsouth

First, tell me about your work?

My work consists of mostly mosaic at the moment. With mosaic artwork there's a lot of wait time involved... waiting for glue to dry, waiting for grout to dry, waiting for sealer to dry, and so on. Usually while I'm waiting I work on other projects. Sometimes those projects are other mosaics and sometimes I paint or bead or see what else I can learn or get into. Most of my free time is spent creating, and most of my not-so-free time is spent thinking about what I'm going to create when I have more free time!

Click on the picture to take you right to dirtroadsouth's etsy listing

How did you get started ?

Just as I've always been into creating, I've also been into learning new ways to create. I came across some mosaic artwork a few years ago and knew it was something I wanted to learn. I didn't know anyone who did anything even remotely similar, so I started researching online. I found a book by mosaic artist Sonia King entitled Mosaic Techniques and Traditions and that was all it took. Between that book and various resources online, I taught myself enough to get started then continued to learn by trial and error. It's a continuous learning process. There's always more materials and methods techniques to try, and that helps keep it interesting.

How old were you when you first recognized your interest and abilities in the arts?

I have always held a great interest in all things art. For as long as I can remember, there's been talk about my abilities in the arts, but I never put too much thought into that. I've just always created because that's what I felt that I needed to do, and I tend to get a bit cranky when I'm unable to.

Who has influenced/inspired your art work?

I've always been lucky enough to have an incredible support group of friends and family backing me, influencing me to try new things and experiment. I'm also greatly influenced by the master painters of the past, positive individuals and spiritual thinkers, as well as those who are true to themselves and what they believe above all else.

Click on the picture to take you right to dirtroadsouth's etsy listing

How has your art evolved over time?

My work is constantly evolving. I believe my mosaic work improves as I learn more about the art and materials, and I've noticed that my painting has become less constrained and more free-flowing since I began to explore mosaic as an artform. In working with tile and glass it's hard to get an exact photorealistic image, and the end result is more impressionistic. Seeing and appreciating this has allowed me to let go a little bit in other media, resulting in a looser, more relaxed and flowy end product that feels more like my own interpretation of the subject matter.

Where do you sell your work and how can my readers reach you?

I sell my work at a couple of local places here in Mississippi. I also have a shop on Etsy and I'm working towards filling a shop on Artfire. I can also be reached via my blog at www.thedirtylowdown.blogspot.com or by email at dirtroadsouth@gmail.com. I welcome any and all questions, comments and suggestions and look forward to hearing from you!

I really love Lori's etsy shop! Not only does she have the mosaic frames and candle holders. She also has mosaic table pieces and really cool book thongs. You have to go check out her shop and stop by her blog.
